Collection: The Kitchen Witch's Guide to Imbolc
About Imbolc
Imbolc is a festival marking the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It is celebrated at the midway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, or from sundown on February 1 through sundown on February 2.
Imbolc is an ancient Gaelic festival celebrating lambing season and was associated with the Irish goddess Brigid. Later Christianization led this day to be celebrated with a feast for St. Brigid.
At Jen & Tonic,, we named our Imbolc collection Refresh: Energize & Purify because of the energies we imbue into every piece of this collection.
Ritual ideas:
Take a ritual bath. Add in a bath bomb, and meditate on better days ahead. Add some of the cleanser to a pouf and wash away the ick of winter. Apply some body oil afterwards, while setting your intention for the day.
OK, you don't like marinating in your own dirt. Place a shower steamer on the floor of your shower and envision the stagnant winter energy washing down your shower drain. Afterwards, apply some body butter to seal in the renewed, cleared energy.
Been fighting off winter congestion? Add about a tablespoon of the herb blend to some water on your stove and just let it simmer. Turn off the heat and tent a towel over your head and the pan.
Just finish an argument with your partner? Spray some room spray to clear the combative energy in your space. Alternately, light a candle and get cozy.
