About Lughnasadh

Lughnasash is the first of the harvest festivals, occurring on August 1-2 (the other two are Mabon or the autumn equinox and Samhain AKA Halloween. It is observed about halfway between the summer solstice and fall equinox.

While it is a Gaelic celebration, it definitely has parallels to the Greek mythology of Persephone returning to the underworld for the dark half of the year.

Also, there are various pronunciations of this Sabbat. I usually pronounce it like Loo-na-sa.

Ritual activities: 

• Ritual bath - set your intentions for abundance and prosperity during the coming months, while adding some extra magic with a bath bomb or bath salts. Afterwards, apply some body butter to really seal in the moisture and leave you with your best summer skin. Alternatively, use a shower steamer and apply some body oil as perfume.
• Can't have a bonfire? Light a candle. You can still honor the fire theme of the season, even indoors. 
• Freshen up your space with some Lughnasadh room spray. It is also very effective when used to set the ambience on your altar.
